7 Seals – Day 15

Revelation 6:7-8

When the lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Go!” I looked, and there was a pale horse, and its rider’s name was Death. Hell followed him. They were given power over one-fourth of the earth to kill people using wars, famines, plagues, and the wild animals on the earth.

The Thought

The fourth seal, a pale horse, its rider’s name was Death. Hell followed. They were given power over 1/4 of the earth to kill people using wars, famines, plagues, and wild animals. Are you afraid to die? Do you think a quarter of the earth are dying from Covid 19?

Now, none of the horses and riders are welcomed or appreciated by believers, but this final horse is the one most of us fear, even though we may not admit to it. The result of this horse being set free to roam the earth is a mix of the other three. But the result is much more disastrous and distressing: A quarter of the earth’s population will die!

Is it time to consider our attitude to death? Are you afraid to die? Is there something deep inside you that doubts what happens after death?

Do you want to be brave and try to survive these things on the earth, or would you prefer to be one of the first to go?

Even the colour of this horse was that of sickness and death! Aren’t you glad that this rider was given the power to kill only a quarter of the earth. Even so, that’s an awful lot of people. Do you think that this rider has roamed the earth since the beginning of time or only since Jesus gained the right to open the scroll? Or maybe you think it is more recent and that a quarter of the earth are dying from Covid 19!

Hades, or Hell, is working closely with the spirit of death, because that underworld is full of demons ready to do the will of their master, Satan. Just as God has myriads of angels to do his will, demons are Satan’s agents on earth.

Action

Pray today for protection for yourself and those you love from the demonic sources loosed in the world around us. Use the authority Jesus has given us to bind demonic activity (Matthew 16:19 & 18:18). (See my study on Spiritual Warfare for more on this.)

Thank God that Satan’s power is limited, and that He sends protective angels to guard and guide you.

Praise Jesus for all He did for us on the cross where He overcame the demonic plans. Thank Him that He went all the way for you and me.
