7 Seals – Day 11

Revelation 6:4

… So he was given a large sword.

The Thought

The large sword that this second rider carries represents war and many deaths. The sad result of the conquest brought about by the first rider.

Do we really understand the way that the enemy (the devil) is taking over our world, and has been trying to do so since the beginning? Thankfully that is not the end of the story.

The sword in this verse definitely speaks of bloodshed and war. It is interesting that the horse is a red one, the colour of blood!

A few years ago I would have said that daily in the less developed world, there are people being killed or tortured just because they have faith in Jesus. But here and now at the beginning of the 21st century it is happening not far from where you and I live! How would you feel if there was a danger of losing your life because of your faith in Jesus? Maybe there is! Do others know you have that faith or is it “personal and private?”

Many Christian organisations and missionary societies tell gruesome stories of murder because family members or neighbours have turned to Christianity.

Do you feel as though this horse has been ruling much of the earth for a long time?

Action

Pray today for those grieving because friends or family members have been killed just because they followed Jesus. Thank God for missionary organisations who provide practical help and spiritual support for those who have lost loved ones through brutal killings of Christians.

Praise God that physical death is not the end of the story.

Pray for those you know who do not yet know The Saviour, that before He returns, they will recognise the truth of Jesus, The Lamb of God.
