Renewing the Mind – Day 22

Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword,… it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

The Thought

If we are trying to renew our minds to think more like Father God we must keep reading the Bible. Not just reading it, but meditating on it. Going to Bible study groups is a great help, especially if there are different versions of the Bible available. Someone understanding Greek and Hebrew can be a great help too! But not essential. Whether alone or in a group, asking the Holy Spirit for His inspiration is always the best idea.

The road to change is through the Bible. If we are serious about wanting to be obedient to the Lord, we need to judge ourselves according to His word, and let that be the bench-mark. God knows the whys and wherefores of everything we do, often much better than we do. He sees into our innermost being and He loves each one of us even though He knows all our bad points. He loves us too much to leave us as we are, so He reveals the hidden motives behind some of the things we do, so that we can repent and move on.

The verse following our one for today reminds us that “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” (Hebrews 4:13)

Jesus often told people their sins were forgiven in order to bring healing. Let us remind ourselves of that as we remember that God’s Word will judge the thoughts of our hearts one day.

Action

Read a favourite chapter or psalm, let His Word speak to you and “renew your mind” to be like His.

Praise God for the power of His word. Praise Him for His unconditional love.
