Wisdom (Proverbs 8) – Day 7
Proverbs 8:8-9
All the words of my mouth are just; none of them is crooked or perverse. To the discerning all of them are right; they are upright to those who have found knowledge.
The Thought
Wisdom in this verse boasts about her own honesty, suggesting that those who are really listening to the Lord and discerning what He says, then relating it to our daily lives, are wise people. Earlier in the book of Proverbs we read good advice from the writer:- Do not be wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones (Proverbs 3:7-8).
Following God’s instructions is important for our health! When there are signs of sickness in our bodies, or dangers of epidemics, our first reaction must be to pray for The Lord’s protection and healing.
We must also beware of our words. Wisdom is telling us that he speaks only truth. Most of us would say the same too, while at the same time we say “I have a headache”, or “I am feeling ill, maybe I’ve caught this or that illness.”
The truth is that Jesus took all our headaches to the cross. He has the power to heal every sickness, and protect us from every epidemic. Believing His word is the answer to lots of the problems in our world, and also in many of the churches.
Action
Ask yourself today if you read enough of God’s word daily. How much of it do you know in your heart and have memorised so that when a crisis hits, you have that scripture to stand on.
Read Proverbs 3 for encouragement and challenge yourself to memorise some of the verses you read there, so that they are in your mind throughout the day.
