Wisdom (Proverbs 8) – Day 25

Proverbs 8:35-36

For those who find Me find life and receive favour from the Lord. But those who fail to find Me harm themselves; all who hate Me love death.

The Thought

The closing verses of the Wisdom chapter give us a startling truth. Lack of wisdom can cause harm, and sometimes disasters!

Most of us know that in our innermost beings, and we try to make the wisest decisions in all circumstances. We hope and pray that our children will be wise in the decisions they make in this ever-changing world. Logical reasoning shows us that unwise decisions can have disastrous circumstances.

We all have responsibilities concerning others; to the ageing generation which is above us, to partners, children, colleagues neighbours or employees. The biggest question we face in those responsibilities, is how to help others to be wise. Few of us have enough wisdom ourselves to help others as much as they really need. The best thing we can do is lead them to Jesus and help them develop that relationship which results in Holy Spirit help at any time of day or night!

Knowing that Jesus was a part of the Godhead from the beginning of time, we can play with the verse a little today so that it reads:- Those who find Jesus find life and receive favour from the Lord. But those who fail to find Jesus harm themselves; all who hate Jesus love death.

Action

Think about that fact as you go through your day today. Pray for each person you see, that they will have a relationship with Jesus, who is Wisdom personified.

Read a part of the gospels that you like and look for the wisdom of Jesus as you read. He always gave the wisest answers, sometime surprising and even shocking His followers!
