Wisdom (Proverbs 8) – Day 21

Proverbs 8:28-29

I was there … when He established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep, when He gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep His command, and when He marked out the foundations of the earth.

The Thought

A continuation of what Lady Wisdom was speaking to us yesterday, telling us that she was a witness at the beginning when the world was created.

What an amazingly exciting time that must have been! We cannot imagine being an onlooker as everything we take for granted today was placed in the cosmos or on the earth, chosen and blessed by the creator God, and designed to have life in abundance!

These verses today remind me of those in Job when God interrupted the discussions of Job’s friends, after Job had lost everything he had. They were not the most faithful of friends, and certainly did not bring him comfort or peace! Job himself responded to them at one point saying miserable comforters are you all (Job 16:2).

All they did was tell Job where he had erred and what was wrong, until God intervened!

Beginning in Job 38:1 God spoke; first to Job (chapters 38:1-39:30) and then to his companions (Job 40:7-41:34). Job responded with a short prayer of repentance (Job 42:1-6) before we get to the epilogue (Job 42;10-16) where we read of Job being re-instated and richer than before in every part of his life.

Action

Read the last chapters of Job (chapters 38-42) and appreciate the amazing world that God created for us to live in. As God criticises each person in these discussions, recognise that He still hears everything that is spoken on earth!

Pray for wisdom in all your conversations.

Think about the amazing creation around you, and recognise that Almighty God made everything perfect and balanced, pray that His hand would be on those who try to destroy earth before it’s time.
