Wisdom (Proverbs 8) – Day 18

Proverbs 8:22

The Lord brought me forth as the first of His works, before His deeds of old.

The Thought

The words here, brought me forth, are translated “possessed me” in some translations and in the Amplified version of this verse we read The Lord created and possessed me.

God created wisdom for Himself! That is almost strange, if we think of God creating His own personality!

What it is really suggesting is that ever since zero time, when God decided to create a world with planets and everything else (more than we read of in Genesis 1), He was wise. He was the only wise God. In fact He was the only God. The false gods were fallen angels so much lower than Almighty God right from the start!

When the early missionaries (the seventy-two), returned from their first mission trip, rejoicing in the things they had seen, Jesus encouraged them saying that Satan was already a beaten foe, because he had been thrown out of Heaven (Luke 10:17-19).

Having authority over the enemy is not something that is focused on in too many churches. That is an error that must be corrected if we, the ones who call ourselves the people of God or followers of Jesus, are to succeed in bringing others into the kingdom.

Jesus sent out His first disciples, and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness (Matthew 10:1). Jesus has not changed and is still doing the same today. Are you ready to go for Him? Not necessarily to the ends of the earth, but just in your neighbourhood or place of work.

Action

Read Matthew 10 today and pray for God to show you the right moment to mention His name in any conversation.

Let others know that you are a believer as you go through your day. Pray for others whether they know you are doing that or not.
