Wisdom (Proverbs 8) – Day 17

Proverbs 8:20-21

I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice, bestowing a rich inheritance on those who love me and making their treasuries full.

The Thought

Whilst preparing this study, I read this verse aloud to anyone who cared to listen! Actually I was alone, so there was no-one to hear, but that did not matter! It seemed such a great encouraging verse that it deserved to be read aloud for others to hear the message!

Most of the Bible warrants reading aloud to others, whether they are listening or not! There are spiritual forces all around us, and they have ears. When we read the Bible aloud, the angels rejoice, and the demons flee!

Wisdom leads us the right way, God’s way, and whether we realise it or not, that enriches our lives, so that we make wise decisions, and when we come to the end of life, we leave a spiritual inheritance for our offspring.

So many people as they pass their sixties and move into the seventies or eighties, begin to think about what their children will inherit. Many children too watch their parents getting older and start to consider what will happen as they become the oldest generation in their family line. There will be decisions to make about funerals, and also inheritance!

Action

Think today about what you will leave behind. How will those around you remember you? Have you made an impression on their lives, for good or not so good?

Do you have any regrets?

Remember that there is no limit to the sins Jesus took to the cross, and ALL our sins can be forgiven if we repent.

Read Colossians 2 today and take special note of verses 13-15. They are worth memorising, and they are certainly worth reading aloud!
