Wisdom (Proverbs 8) – Day 15

Proverbs 8:18

With me are riches and honour, enduring wealth and prosperity.

The Thought

Millions of people throughout the centuries have tried to find wealth and prosperity in the ways of the world, never knowing that true success came from the wisdom of the Lord which is freely available to all who care to look for it.

In the last book of the Old Testament, the prophet Malachi has much to say that is very relevant to our times, and one of the saddest verses tells us that evildoers prosper (Malachi 3:15).

The full verse reads:- But now, we call the arrogant blessed. Certainly evildoers prosper, and even when they put God to the test they get aways with it. Malachi understood what the scriptures said about wisdom and prosperity, and it didn’t seem to be happening that way in his time, so he was complaining to God. The same can be said of our time!

The devil’s wisdom, and what he is doing to destroy the world, fits into much of Malachi’s complaint and his record of The Lord’s response in the last verses of this chapter is a promise for us:- On the day when I act, says The Lord Almighty, they will be my treasured possession. … And you will again see the distinction between those who serve God and those who do not.

Action

Pray today for the Lord to act, so that all can see the difference between those who serve God and those who do not. Pray for world leaders as well as your local politicians and teachers in the schools around you. That the revival which is coming will turn the world upside down.

Read Malachi 3 today (or if you have time, the whole book which is only 4 short chapters!) Hear in your heart God speaking to our time in history.
