Who is God – Day 26

John 10:9

I am the gate, whoever enters through Me will be saved. They will come in and go out and find pasture.

The Thought

The idea of Jesus being a gate for us to enter Heaven begins in the first verse of this chapter, but that verse also is a continuation of the conversation with the Pharisees that began in the previous chapter. Reading the gospel of John is exciting as we read many different conversations between Jesus and His disciples, or Jesus and the Pharisees who seemed to be a continual thorn in his side!

Today’s verse is obviously giving us a picture of the doorway into Heaven, and telling us that Jesus is the only way to The Father; a message that He repeats clearly later on in John 14:1-10. But it is interesting that in our verse today Jesus talks about coming and going through the gate. That seems to be saying that while still living our earthly lives, we can come and go from Heaven. We can have access to Father God while still living here. Hallelujah!

When we need new “pasture”, we can go through the gate “Jesus” and talk to our Father in Heaven and get whatever we need for our daily lives. Inspiration, ideas, and help are all available from The Lord as we pray in Jesus’ name. That’s what this picture says to me about going through the gate and finding “good pasture”.

Action

Read John 10 today and in your mind go through the gate which is Jesus to ask Father God for any needs that you may have.

Ask Him for inspiration to share His love with those you will meet today.

Pray today that you will follow the Good Shepherd (Day 15) through the good gate into the good pasture He is leading you to.
