Who is God – Day 10

Exodus 15:26

He said, “If you listen carefully to The Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to His commands and keep all His decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am The Lord, who heals you.”

The Thought

This is the closing message of a chapter which has so many different names for God each one describing more of His character, that we could spend several days just in this chapter! The Israelites had seen many miraculous signs as they escaped from Egypt, The last sign on this occasion was the healing of the waters of Marah.

The people had been travelling through desert lands and were three days without water, when they came to this lake, they found it bitter and undrinkable (Marah means bitter). Every trial the people had as they travelled was a way of teaching them so that they would recognise the Loving Father God who had a good plan. Moses followed the Lord’s instructions, and the water was healed!

After a miracle like that, the people were listening once more.

When we have miracles before our eyes, most of us find it much easier to believe. Someone getting out of a wheelchair and walking normally makes all of us want to see more, and know more about this amazing God who heals people.

Action

Remember some of the things you have seen in the past, and praise God today for the miracles you have experienced, either for yourself or in meetings with others. If you feel as though you haven’t seen any miracles, just think about conception and childbirth, how that act of unity produces a baby! A miraculous development.

Read Exodus 15 and feel the excitement of those travelling people. Imagine passing on those stories to future generations.

Thank God for Jesus who continued to demonstrate The Father’s love as Jehovah Rapha – the God who heals.

Tell someone today about your great miracle working God.
