Truth – Day 28

Titus 1:1

Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ to further the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness.

The Thought

What a great “raison d’être” that is. Paul’s reason for living was to further the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness. That’s why he was writing to Titus, to encourage him to have the same vision, and to teach those in his church with the same message in order to help set the world wide church on fire for Jesus.

Paul travelled many miles to fulfill his mission, and wherever he went he created teams of others to do the same thing. Verse 5 of this chapter tells us that Paul left Titus in charge of a new church in Crete. All our churches should be creating new groups, but this verse doesn’t finish there, it continues, and the full sentence is as follows:-

Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ to further the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness: in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time, and which now at His appointed season He has brought to light through the preaching entrusted to me by the command of God our Saviour – Titus 1:1-3.

Action

Meditate on those verses today and ask yourself if you are helping that mission move forward. We are not all called to be preachers, teachers, or missionaries, but we are all called to be witnesses of what Jesus has done for us.

Ask yourself how big is your knowledge of the truth today, and be determined to learn more.

Read the short 3 chapters of Titus and pray about what the Lord may be challenging you to do for Jesus.
