The Soul and the Spirit – Day 5
Ezekiel 36:26
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you.
The Thought
After the spirits of Adam and Eve died, (see yesterday and Genesis 3) God began to put into action His plan of redemption, and the Old Testament is full of promises about what the Messiah will do. Isn’t it encouraging that even before sin entered the world, God had made the way of escape for us. What a privilege to live in this present era, and know that Jesus went to the cross to save us from eternity in Hell, and that we have God’s long promised Holy Spirit living within us.
I believe that when we let Jesus into our lives, the spirit which died with Adam is recreated, and we are born again. Jesus used that expression telling those who were listening: Very truly I tell you, no-one can see the Kingdom of God unless they are born again (John 3:3). He explains that just a little in the following verses telling us that flesh gives birth to flesh, but The Spirit gives birth to spirit (John 3:6).
The expression born again is used by many who attend evangelical churches today. Sadly for many it means a date when they accepted Jesus, but nothing else. If we are born again and have God’s Spirit within us, our actions and our conversations should demonstrate that fact.
Action
Praise God that He made rebirth possible in Jesus, that it was part of His plan at the creation of the world.
Read Ezekiel 36 and hear God’s voice for Israel today He has not changed His mind.
Pray for a new understanding of what it means to be born again.
Pray for those in your family who have not yet had their spirit made alive by Jesus.
