The Soul and the Spirit – Day 20
Job 10:12
You gave me life and showed me kindness, and in your providence watched over my spirit.
The Thought
In this chapter we read of Job’s on-going emotional argument with God. Job was very angry and upset because of all the negative things that had suddenly happened to him; the death of his wife and all his children as well as most of his servants, and also the loss of his property!
In spite of all he went through, Job still could not deny the hand of God on his life. He acknowledged that God is the author of life, holding the world in his hands. Job knew, without the slightest doubt, He was still alive because God was watching over him.
God watches over each one of us too. He sees everything that goes on in the world, both good and bad, and many of us have wondered many times why He who could stop the wars, doesn’t appear to be doing anything. That has been the same throughout history. The Old Testament tells us of many wars, often with miraculous results, and Jesus Himself warned us that there would be wars and rumors of wars (Matthew 24:6, Mark 13:7, Luke 21:9).
Action
Read Job 10 today and feel Job’s anger and deep distress at the negative things happening, do you feel the same about our world today?
In the midst of troubles and persecutions can you recognize the hand of God, acknowledge His kindness, and move forward into His plan for your life?
Pray for the Lord to remind you of the good things He has done for you recently.
Praise Him that He is watching over your spirit as He did Job’s, and thank Him for the even better things He has prepared for your future.
