The Last – Day 6

Joshua 12:4

Og king of Bashan, one of the last of the Raphaites, who reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei.

The Thought

The first part of this verse is a repeat of Deuteronomy 3:11 where we are told the size of this king’s bed, emphasising the fact that the Raphaites were a race of giants. Just for information the bed was about 4 meters long and 1.8 meters wide. (14 feet by 6 feet) That’s a big bed! These giants had occupied a part of the land that God intended to give to the Israelites, so Moses and all his army took on the challenge and won the battles (Joshua 13:12)!!

One of the things we must learn from that story is that nothing is too hard for us when we have God on our side. Some of us have daily battles against spiritual giants, some against physical giants. Behind every bad person is a spiritual force which can seem huge.

We must remember in those difficult times that God is with us believers, and nothing is impossible for Him. Jesus told His disciples that all things are possible with God (Matthew 19:26, Mark 10:27, Luke 18:27).

Action

Pray today for anyone you know who is facing a “giant” or a spiritual battle, that the Lord will give them peace and bring them to a place of victory.

Read Joshua 12 & 13 today and remember that NOTHING is impossible for God. Praise The Lord for all His teachings, and that Jesus didn’t leave us alone when He left the earth for Heaven, but Holy Spirit came very soon afterwards, and is still here today ready to help those of us who are fighting battles. All of us experience “battles” from time to time, and each experience of a spiritual battle is an opportunity for growth in our faith. Hallelujah!
