The Last – Day 30

Revelation 22:21

The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen

The Thought

The LAST prayer in the Bible seems to be a good place to end this study, as well as my years of writing them, and it is my prayer today for everyone who reads this. But what is grace? Quite a “religious” word, used 114 times in the New Testament, and worth a study alone.

Most Bible translators describe grace as “unmerited favour” usually from The Lord; but in the Old Testament it is often connected with beauty. Proverbs 3:22 describes grace as a necklace, but not one to be bought, one that we receive through good character which results in good behaviour. Grace is a result of having wisdom and understanding, sound judgement and discretion (Proverbs 3:21).

The New Testament gives us more a picture of God’s kindness to us. Paul wrote to the Ephesian church, telling them it is by grace you have been saved (Ephesians 2:5) and Paul tells his student Titus that the grace of God has appeared (Titus 2:11). That is obviously a reference to Jesus, and the verse teaches us to be disciplined in our personal behaviour, living life as a Christian should, showing others that we are different. We are called to be like Jesus, letting Him live through us, and consequently helping others become Christians and seeing God’s kingdom grow on the earth.

Action

Read one of the chapters mentioned above today and be blessed and encouraged. My prayer for all those who have read any of these studies is that God’s grace found in Jesus will accompany you well into old age as it has done me.

Special thanks to my husband of more than 57 years, for the encouragement and proof reading, and our son Christopher for his technical ability.

Bible study will continue to be one of the loves of my life, until I graduate to Heaven. The website will be available for some time giving the possibility to read other studies that I have written! May God bless you as much or more than He has blessed me.
