The Last – Day 22

1 Corinthians 15:26

The last enemy to be destroyed is death.

The Thought

When I began this study on the last… I had no idea I would have so many different subjects to look at. The word used in the original Greek for destroyed here is a strong word meaning to be abolished or put to an end.

It is very clear that there is no alternative. What God starts He brings to completion. He sent Jesus to begin the destruction of the enemy powers working on the earth under the influence of satan, and Jesus accomplished that mission by destroying death when He rose from the grave.

The followers of Jesus on the earth, do not see death as the end of life, but just an end to the earthly part of our life, and the step towards a life of freedom with no more pain or sorrow. Many believers, myself included, have had visions of their past family members already in Heaven. Those visions are allowed by God as encouragement for us and others.

Please note that I am not encouraging anyone to go to see spiritual leaders who, for a certain sum of money, will “get in touch with” family members who have died! Those people are not serving our Almighty God, they are following evil spirits which are still trying to destroy God’s people on earth.

Satan knows his days are numbered and is trying everything he can to destroy as many lives as possible before Jesus returns to claim His followers.

Action

Pray today for everyone you care for, to recognise the work of satan going on all around us, and turn to Jesus for reassurance and freedom. Dare to be bold in sharing the truth of Jesus to a “not yet believing” colleague, neighbour or family member today.

Read 1 Corinthians 15 and be encouraged. Note especially verse 45: The first man Adam became a living being; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.
