The Last – Day 14

Micah 4:1

In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and peoples will stream to it.

The Thought

One more Old Testament reference to the last days! Tomorrow we will leave this subject for a while! There are other “last” things to look at.

Micah was the writer of Old Testament book carrying his name. He was a contemporary of Isaiah, and an active prophet during the reigns of 3 kings of Israel (Micah 1:1).

Ever since time began people have been wondering if the world as they have known it will end. The disciples thought the end had come when they asked Jesus if He was going to establish His Kingdom (Acts 1:6). They had seen Him dead and alive again, and knew that nothing could stop Him after that. They fully expected Jesus to start His own movement and were sure that nothing could take Him down. It couldn’t, but that was not God’s plan.

The problem was that the disciples did not understand that Jesus had equipped them to establish the Kingdom on earth! He began with those who were faithful supporters during His physical lifetime, baptising them with Holy Spirit when they were all in a room together not knowing what to do!

Those disciples had wanted to see what Micah and most other prophets before and since have wanted to see: God’s Kingdom on earth!

Action

Do you think the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be a literal thing higher than other mountains, or is this image more a spiritual picture?

Read Micah 4 and think about Israel as it is at the moment. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and ask God to bring victory for Israel against all their enemies.

Pray for your church to equip the believers to be like the first disciples.
