The Last – Day 13

Hosea 3:5

Afterward the Israelites will return and seek the Lord their God and David their king. They will come trembling to the Lord and to His blessings in the last days.

The Thought

Hosea was a long standing prophet to Israel during the time of 4 kings of Judah, and of Jereboam king of Israel. He had an interesting life being obedient to some of the strange things God asked him to do. One of those things was to marry a woman who would not be faithful to him, as a picture for Israel of their own unfaithfulness to The Lord (Hosea 3:1-5). Many of our modern day prophets will be happy to be alive now rather than then!

This prophet is renowned for having married a prostitute, and for giving his children strange names! His first daughter was named unloved (Hosea 1:6), and his second son not my people (Hosea 1:8).

Many people across the world think we are in the last days. Many other believers will argue that people have been thinking that ever since the time of Jesus. The fact is that much of the Bible tells us that there will be a time when the world will end.

Many who watch Christian media will think that lots of what is happening in our world today is a spiritual war proving we are in the last days, but others will argue that people have thought that ever since the disciples watched Jesus ascend into Heaven (Acts 1:9)!

Action

What are your expectations of the last days?

Read some of Hosea today and consider what your reaction would be if God gave you strange names for your own children, but be impressed too at Hosea’s obedience. Pray that you and those you love will be strong and obedient whatever God asks you to do.
