Surprises – Day 28

1 Peter 4:3-4

You have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do – living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. They are surprised that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you.

The Thought

This is a verse for people who have met the Lord and had a complete change of heart and consequently lifestyle! The preceding verse tells us that true converts live changed lives. Not according to human desires, but according to the will of God.

More and more people will be experiencing this big surprise as the Body of Christ grows through miraculous intervention and revival spreads throughout the world. Exciting times are ahead.

The Bible tells us of several specific surprises coming in “the last days”:-

In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established as the highest of mountains; it will be exalted above the hills and all nations will stream to it. Isaiah 2:2.

Whether this is a physical phenomenon or a spiritual description of what will happen as all nations bow their knee to Almighty God we cannot tell. But as we look at our world today we can imagine that huge surprise as world leaders who have served false gods for generations are dramatically changed, and begin to serve The One True God.

In the last days, God says, I will pour out My Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will dream dreams. Acts 2:17.

Many of us are longing to see this day. We have prayed hours for our un-believing family members, and are wondering if they will ever change. Stay confident in the God of Surprises.

Action

Pray today for the fulfilment of the last days promises from The Lord. Pray that when that day comes you, and those you love will be found doing what He has called you to do.

Read Acts 2 and be encouraged. Thank Jesus for the exciting times ahead.
