Surprises – Day 14

Daniel 3:24-25

Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, “Weren’t there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?”
They replied, “Certainly your majesty!” He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”

The Thought

These verses are full of some of the biggest surprises in the Bible. The fact that the men were not burned, but their cords were. That they were walking around in the fire! Plus the appearance of God as a man, long before Jesus was born!!

Remember, that hundreds of years later, Jesus told those Jewish scholars who challenged Him Very truly I tell you that before Abraham was born, I am!” (John 8:58). What a strange statement that is, and only The Son of The Most High God could say it. He really is the God who walked with Adam and Eve in the garden (Genesis 3:8). Truly our Lord and Saviour is The One True Eternal God!

Nebuchadnezzar’s reaction to what he witnessed gives us reason to believe that truly he had a schizophrenic personality. No longer was it the Jews who were to be killed, but those who criticised the God of the Jewish nation! Still today, in many parts of the world, people who are believers in the Most High God are being persecuted or murdered because of their Christian faith.

Action

Pray today for those who are persecuted for their belief in Jesus, not only in countries across the world far from where you live, but some in our own neighbourhoods who are not following family traditions about religion.

Praise God that He is near to those who are faithful to Him.

Read Daniel 3 and praise God for the surprises in that chapter.
