The Spiritual Blessings – 24

I am praying this so that you may be completely filled with God. God is more than enough, He is too much! I have told you this so that you will be as joyful as I am, and your joy will be complete.

Ephesians 3:19

You will know Christ’s love, which goes far beyond any knowledge. I am praying this so that you may be completely filled with God.

The Thought

Continuing in Paul’s prayer for the Ephesian believers, we read that we can “know” (meaning “experience”) Jesus’ love. Even though it surpasses knowledge! Understanding this love is so much more important than understanding anything we learned at school.

It seems an impossible task, and yet the next phrase suggests that it isn’t! … that you may be completely filled with God.

One of my first Bibles I used when I began to grow in the knowledge of God had wide margins. I have many notes written in those margins, and many verses are highlighted. In this verse I have highlighted the two words “filled” and “completely”. Beside this verse I have written “God is more than enough, He is too much!”

Being completely filled is a high ideal accomplished only by Jesus, but to be pursued by His followers. More of You and less of me, should be our daily prayer. But not to a point of making ourselves miserable. Jesus was the life and soul of the party everywhere He went. He was never a killjoy. In His final discussion with the disciples recorded for us we read “I have told you this so that you will be as joyful as I am, and your joy will be complete.” (John 15:11)

Action

Christians should be the “Happiest People on Earth” (title of a book written by Demos Shakarian founder of The Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship).

Ask God to fill you with His joy for life in all that you do today. Try to see things from His point of view, and make the most of every opportunity to be a blessing to others.
