The Spiritual Blessings – 18
We are members of His household. To me that suggests living under the same roof. That’s what it is like to be a member of God’s household. He is always in the house, always ready to chat. Whatever you are going through right now, He has the answer.
… you are no longer foreigners and outsiders but citizens together with God’s people and members of God’s household.
This verse goes so well with our thoughts yesterday. It goes even further, saying that we are members of God’s household. To me that suggests living in the same place. Under the same roof.
Imagine for a moment that you live in a large chateau, castle or palace where there are hundreds of rooms and lots of corridors. You would not expect to see every other person who lives there, every day, but you would be aware that they were there. You would sense the presence of others in the building, hear their chatter, and from time to time you would meet them in the dining room, on the stairs or in the garden.
It would be a happy place to live if the owner is a happy person. If you bumped into him unexpectedly he would ask if everything was OK, or if you needed anything.
That’s what it is like to be a member of God’s household. He is always in the house, and always ready to chat.
In case you think this image irreverent, let me add that there would also be times when He called a solemn assembly of all His household to remind them of the rules of love, sharing, forgiveness and healing as they are needed.
Jesus came to earth to live as we do, sometimes sad, sometimes happy, irritated, angry, frustrated, hungry. He experienced every human emotion, and He understands perfectly whatever you might be going through right now. He has the answer.
As you go through your day today, try to remember that God is going through it with you. Whether you have tons to do, or nothing at all, He is at your side. Thank Him for that and don’t be afraid to ask for His help and advice about EVERYTHING.
