Separation – Day 21

Matthew 25:32

All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

The Thought

Several chapters after our verse yesterday, but in the same gospel Jesus repeated yesterday’s message with another picture related to local life but on a much bigger scale.

The number of people in this crowd is too many to imagine.

In our everyday lives, in our urbanised western culture, most of us do not see sheep and goats being separated. But we do see ethnic groups being separated. We see separation between rich and poor, as well as different nationalities. There are Catholics and Protestants, and many other Christian denominations. We used to see male and female, but now it’s more woke and anti-woke!!

People are judged by others according to what car they drive, which political party they belong to, where they live or go on holiday!

The Lord sees our walls of division and wants to destroy them. The only thing that will separate us to the left and right of the Lord on the last day will be our faith in Him, and how we have lived it out.

Do you know which side you will be on?

Action

Praise God that there are no separations once we are in Heaven, but all are one in Him (Galatians 3:28). Praise Him for His patience with our petty group divisions.

Pray for the walls of division to fall within the churches, within our communities and pray for those cultures where Christianity has to be hidden behind a dividing wall.

Praise God that one of His plans is that we “snatch others from the fire”. Let’s do that today.

Pray for many to come into the kingdom before the last minute.
