Renewing the Mind – Day 2

Romans 12:2

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is. His good, pleasing and perfect will.

The Thought

What a wealth of material to study there is in this verse alone. Can you feel the contrast between “conform” and “transform”? It is too easy for many of us to conform to peer groups, to the habits of others in our work places. Even to conform to church practices. We often feel that is expected of us and most of us don’t like to be different.

But don’t we all want to know God’s will for our lives? If we believe His will is good and perfect and it pleases us, and Him, when we do it, then we should be doing all we can to obey the command at the start of the verse. We need to have our mind renewed to His way of thinking. The only way to do that is to follow Paul’s instructions here and allow our minds to be renewed.

At this time of Covid rules and regulations, it seems to me that renewing of our minds Biblically is a good idea. The world governments are trying to renew our minds in a different way. To have us depend on vaccines. To make masks a part of our every day lives. Live in isolated bubbles. That is not God’s plan for His people.

Action

Pray as you begin to study this verse that the Lord will make clear to you in which areas you need to be transformed.

Praise Him for His “good, pleasing and perfect will” quoted in this verse. Praise Him that it is done in Heaven and one day it will be done on earth.
