Renewing the Mind – Day 15

Proverbs 3:7-8

Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.

The Thought

The continuation of yesterday’s verse tells us how to stay healthy. One of the fears of today’s society is serious illness and death, for ourselves and others. An old song has the chorus “Everybody wants to go to Heaven, nobody wants to die!” It’s true. Most of us resist death and have reasons for staying alive in this world.

As I write, covid 19 is rife. Many have died, many are sick and many are afraid.

The skeptical don’t trust the media reports.

The fearful avoid contact at all costs.

The rebellious deny that things are as bad as reported.

Millennialists say “This is the end of life as we know it; Jesus is coming back soon.”

The Bible verse today tells us that in order to stay healthy we should turn our backs on evil, and fear (meaning respect and honour) the Lord. God is a loving Father and not somebody to be afraid of. He has, and is, all knowledge. The answer to every sickness is in Him, and as we get to know and trust Him more, so we will find that our bodies are healthier than ever before.

This verse speaks of nourishment for the bones. The bone marrow is where the white blood cells which fight disease are made. If our bones are strong, we will have a better chance of staying healthy.

There is more science in the Bible than most of us think!

Read Isaiah 40:28-31 and be encouraged to trust Jesus more.

Pray that The Lord will correct any health problem you have at this time.

Pray for your church to teach The Lord’s wisdom which brings “health to your body and nourishment to your bones.”
