Remembering – Day 23

Hebrews 6:10

God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them.

The Thought

What an encouragement this verse is for those of us who spend much of our lives trying to obey what God has said and to encourage others to do the same. It does not matter whether we carry a title of pastor, priest, or king, or whether we have no recognition at all by those who don’t know us well, and consequently don’t see what we do in our personal lives. God sees, doesn’t forget and will reward in His time and in His way.

This chapter of Hebrews starts with an encouragement to move on with our faith. Let us move beyond the elementary teaching about Christ and be taken forward to maturity.

The way we do that is by obeying God’s instructions to go into all the world, preach the gospel, (Mark 16:15) as well as loving our neighbour, caring for the down trodden, sick and lonely. It can be a busy life being an active believer! But it is a rewarding life, and God sees everything we do for Him with His Spirit at our sides.

Action

Read Hebrews 6 today and note the writers’s comparisons of believers as watered land. Some of that land produces thistles, some a good useful crop (verses 7 & 8) reminding us of the parable of the sower (Matthew 13, Mark 4, Luke 8).

In the fourth gospel Jesus tells His disciples to open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest (John 4:35).

Ask yourself today if you are ready to be used by Him, and ask Him to show you your personal harvest field which is already ripe.
