Psalm 119 – Day 8
ה He
Psalm 119:33-35
Teach me, Lord, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end. Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart. Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight.
The Thought
We can truly feel the heart of David in these words today. His single aim in life was to stay close to God and be as obedient as he could. That would be a challenge for many young people today, and for older people too!
We are surrounded by an anti-God society pulling us constantly away from any godly ideas we might have. There is a battle on, right across the world between good and evil. It is important that we know which side we are on.
That battle has been raging since Eve took the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden thousands of years ago (Genesis 3:6).
It is interesting that David prayed for the right road to follow; the way of Your decrees. He wants to live on the road God wants him to live on. The road that leads to heaven!
Many of us have made that sort of decision as children in a church group, but later the teenage years have got in the way, or maybe we have married a non-believer, and suddenly life is full and there is no room for church or prayer. Maybe someone in the family abuses you physically because you go to church.
Action
Read Genesis 3 today and remind yourself of how wonderful life was for Adam and Eve in the garden. Think about the difference once they had followed the way of satan!
Pray for any you know who used to be church goers, but have lost their enthusiasm for the things of God for whatever reason.
Pray for the revival which is beginning to gain speed rapidly all across the world.
