Psalm 119 – Day 31

ת Taw

Psalm 119:169-176

May my cry come before You, Lord; give me understanding according to Your word. May my supplication come before You; deliver me according to Your promise. May my lips overflow with praise, for You teach me Your decrees. May my tongue sing of Your word, for all Your commands are righteous. May your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen Your precepts. I long for your salvation, Lord, and Your law gives me delight. Let me live that I may praise You, and may Your laws sustain me. I have strayed like a lost sheep. Seek Your servant, for I have not forgotten Your commands.

The Thought

On this last day of the month, we come to the end of this amazing psalm. Each part has been written in a form of poetry with every line beginning with the appropriate letter of the alphabet. In the equivalent in English, the last letter would be ‘Z’! That would be a challenge!

David repeats much of what he has already said, and prayed, but we often do the same. Do we not continually repeat prayers for those close to us, and often not so close? Many are praying daily for the war in the Middle East to stop, and yet it continues.

We have to remember that the ways of God are not our ways!

The prophet Isaiah reminded us of that as he spoke for the Lord in Isaiah 55:9. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.

Action

Pray today that your thoughts will be more in line with those of The Lord, and ask Him to inspire not just your prayers, but your everyday conversations.

Read Isaiah 55, a much read chapter full of encouragement.
