Psalm 119 – Day 28

ק Qoph

Psalm 119:145-152

I call with all my heart; answer me, Lord, and I will obey Your decrees. I call out to You; save me and I will keep Your statutes. I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in Your word. My eyes stay open through the watches of the night, that I may meditate on Your promises. Hear my voice in accordance with Your love; preserve my life, Lord, according to Your laws. Those who devise wicked schemes are near, but they are far from Your law. Yet you are near, Lord, and all Your commands are true. Long ago I learned from Your statutes that You established them to last forever.

The Thought

Most of us, at some time in our lives have pleaded with God to answer a prayer or solve a problem. Even people who do not believe in Him, cry out to Him in times of crisis, just in case they have it wrong and He does exist.

Sometimes He answers, sometimes He doesn’t, at least not in the way we had hoped He would! The reason for that is that He knows the future. I know the plans I have for you… plans to give you a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). It is all about teaching us to trust Him.

Many too have promised Jesus they will do exceptional things for Him, if He will just do this one thing for us! In the first two lines if this poem today, David promises to obey God’s decrees and to keep His statutes. But David could not have written so much of this poem, as well as many others if he did not know that God existed and in fact know Him intimately.

Action

Read Jeremiah 29 today, and pray for the world situations which you know of that seem disastrous. Pray too for those around you who need an answer to prayer right now.
