Psalm 119 – Day 24
ס Samekh
Psalm 119:113-120
I hate double-minded people, but I love Your law. You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in Your word. Away from me, you evildoers, that I may keep the commands of my God! Sustain me, my God, according to Your promise, and I will live; do not let my hopes be dashed. Uphold me, and I will be delivered; I will always have regard for your decrees. You reject all who stray from your decrees, for their delusions come to nothing. All the wicked of the earth you discard like dross; therefore I love your statutes. My flesh trembles in fear of you; I stand in awe of Your laws.
The Thought
David is obviously frustrated with people who are not of the same mind as he is about Almighty God. In his prayer he is telling the “evildoers” to be gone from his life. We all have people in our lives who can be frustrating and challenging, even if they are not “evildoers”, and as we are believers wanting to please The Lord, and live for him, often our reactions to those people do not fit in to what God wants of us.
We are to forgive, bless and move on, but that is not always easy in our complicated world. We meet in our church groups and are blessed and encouraged, but there are seven days in our week, and we must live according to the principles of God all seven days!
That can be a challenge!
In the first line of these verses, David states his position, I hate double-minded people, but I love your law.
Action
Ask yourself today if you can you say with David, I hate double-minded people, but I love your law. Note that immediately after stating the situation, David confirms who God is for him.
Think today about who you turn to for help, advice or just a listening ear when you are frustrated with life. Pray for those people to be blessed by Jesus today.
