Psalm 119 – Day 22
מ Mem
Psalm 119:97-104
Oh, how I love Your law! I meditate on it all day long. Your commands are always with me and make me wiser than my enemies. I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on Your statutes. I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey Your precepts. I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey Your word. I have not departed from Your laws, for You yourself have taught me. How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! I gain understanding from Your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path.
The Thought
As I read the last line in our passage today, the thought comes to me that evil does not stand still, but is a path to worse evil!! There is always an enemy thought not far away which is tempting us to go down the wrong road.
The only way David found to conquer that was to read the scriptures and meditate on God’s word and His huge achievements in the past. One of the results of him doing that was to have more answers than his teachers. He tells us in verse 99 here:- I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on Your statutes.
The way to get round or through most of our problems is to know and understand God’s word. Your word is a light to my path is the first verse of the strophe we will look at tomorrow (Psalm 119:105).
Action
Think today about your reactions to the everyday problems of life. Do you pray about everything? Is your reaction to bad news to pray, to declare with confidence what God says, or to panic? How do you advise others if they come to you for help?
Praise God today for His Word that speaks to every situation. Dare to challenge yourself to know more of it.
