Psalm 23 – Day 7

Psalm 23:3

He restores my soul.

The Thought

All of us need our souls restoring from time to time, probably most of the time. Our souls are affected by life in general! Every experience we have either blesses us or hurts us, even though we tell ourselves that we are indifferent. Our souls, which make us who we are, are influenced by everything that happens to us.

So… like it or not, your soul needs restoring.

Have you ever been to a concert, church service, or praise evening, and felt great when you left. Sometimes we don’t think our souls or spirits (they are different) need lifting or encouraging, but then once we have received that touch we feel so much better with ourselves. (Often with others too!) We enter the building tired, or with a heavy heart from the stresses of the day, but we come out with a smile on our face and a lightness in our step.

Jesus, the Good Shepherd, is the only one who can really restore our souls so that we feel great. He knows what we need, just as the shepherds on the hills of Israel knew whether to take the sheep to the river, uphill to the drier grasses, or onto the slopes.

Action

Listen to some praise music today and allow your soul to feel better. If you have been hurt by someone, choose to forgive and ask Jesus to heal the hurts and restore your soul.

Give Him time to do that, and you will feel better in every way as you sense the restoration of your soul.

Reflect on the words of Jesus:- Matthew 11:28 “Come to Me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest”
