Mountains – Day 26

Judges 4:14

Then Deborah said to Barak, “Go! This is the day the LORD has given Sisera into your hands. Has not the LORD gone ahead of you?” So Barak went down Mount Tabor, followed by ten thousand men.

The Thought

Sadly this chapter begins with the tragic statement that the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord (v1). When will the governments of the world realise that obedience to the Almighty God of the universe will reap peace and great rewards for their country?

Deborah is the first female mentioned in the Bible who has any type of responsibility in the community. We know little about her except that she was the judge at that time, but she was also a prophetic voice, and responded with what she heard from Heaven (Judges 4:4-7). The directions she gave to Barak were very clear and came true to the letter on Mount Tabor.

Deborah went to the battle with Barak and gave him instructions direct from the Lord as they went. It seems that God was using women in this battle more than any other female that has been mentioned throughout the earlier books of the Bible.

Deborah directed the battle plans against Sisera who was then killed by a woman as he slept from exhaustion. Jael gave him a place to rest and then drove a tent peg into his forehead while he slept!! (Judges 4:21).

Action

Pray for your government to realise that obedience to Father God will bring great blessings on your country.

Pray that each politician will have a revelation of the Almighty God who is the Father of Jesus; the Christ who gave His life for each of us.

Read Judges 4 and praise God for the men who listened to the females in this chapter.

Praise God for the females you know who listen to Him and obey Him today.
