Joy – Day 6

Isaiah 55:12

You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.

The Thought

What an encouraging picture this is! It was described thousands of years before any cartoon artist created talking hills and trees which demonstrate their joy! The previous verse tells us that God’s word is powerful and will always accomplish what He desires, and achieve the purpose for which He sent it. That is worth celebrating!

God’s people should be the most joyful in the world! Are they? Many years ago Demos Shakarian wrote a book entitled “The Happiest People on Earth” describing people who know Jesus as Saviour, because they have realised the truth of all He gained for us on the cross. The truth which tells us to worry about nothing, but to trust Father God and believe His word. If we live in that place we will be the joyful people God wants us to be.

In the verses preceding the one above, the prophet is speaking for the Lord and likening His word to seeds. God is telling us that what He proclaims will happen, His word will accomplish His purposes. That is a great encouragement when we look at so much that is happening in our world today. God is going to have the last word. Be encouraged.

Action

Read Isaiah 55 today and be encouraged by the pictures painted in the words. Thank God for the future plans He has for you and for the world around you.

Pray that you will be a good sower of good seed that falls on good ground.

As you go through your day, look for occasions and opportunities to spread some good seeds around you.
