Joy – Day 3

Proverbs 15:30

Light in a messenger’s eyes brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.

The Thought

We have all experienced these emotions at some time in our lives. Each of us can identify with the feelings of joy, renewed energy, a smile, a sparkle in the eye when we hear good news. The opposite feelings and reactions with bad news are equally true.

When we have good news we all have a tendency to want to share it; to telephone a friend or a family member and say “celebrate with me”.

That is what the father of the prodigal son did. As soon as the lost son returned, he gave a party (Luke 15:11-31)!

The whole chapter of Luke 15 concerns joy. The first 7 verses tell us about the lost sheep and the joy of it being found. Verses 8-10 remind us of the frustration of losing money and the joy of finding it again.

The need to celebrate, and share good news is a part of our make-up. These verses all tell us of the joy that there is in heaven when a lost sinner recognises his needs and turns to his Heavenly Father.

Action

Read Luke 15 and remember the joy of the people finding what was lost; the sheep, the coin, and the son. We will look at more of that chapter later in this study.

Praise God for the times you have lost something and found it again. Remember the joy of those moments.

Remember other joyful times of your life and let them be a message that shines through your facial expressions today. Show others that you are having a good day, and wish them well. It will encourage them, and you will find yourself encouraged too. Be a messenger of joy today.
