Joy – Day 25

Luke 2:17-18 & 20

When they (the shepherds) had seen Him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.
The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had seen, which were just as they had been told.

The Thought

On this Christmas day we have no choice but to talk about the joy that Jesus brings! The shepherds had been on an emotional roller coaster for several hours, from the moment the first angel appeared to them (Luke 2:9), to when they saw the baby representing the message the angels had given. When they felt the holiness of that manger, their lives must have been forever changed.

The shepherds must also have shared this amazing news, and changed the lives of many people in Bethlehem. Nothing like that had ever happened before. Nothing like that has ever happened since! Some would believe it, some wouldn’t! Just like today!

Thankfully, the truth of that first Christmas is believed by millions. But tragically it is ignored or ridiculed by millions of others.

Action

Let’s pray today for all the unbelievers we know and hear about. Pray for those false religions who do not have The Saviour, or The Holy Spirit.

Praise God that in our day the true believing church is beginning to waken and share the truth of that first Christmas day.

Thank God that at this time many different Christian denominations are joining together to celebrate the birth of The Saviour.

Pray today for the lonely, those who are not so happy as they remember past celebrations with people who have moved on from the earth.

Thank God for the special gift of His Son, and the growing believing church that meets in His Name.
