Gifts & Giving – Day 6
We must remember, recognise and honour the whole trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In the Bible we are encouraged to stay in unity with other believers. How sad God must be that there has been so much division in the church and today there are so many denominations.
1 Corinthians 12:4
There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them.
The Thought
This verse makes me think of the verse which says “One Father of all”. In Paul’s letter to the Ephesian church he Is stressing the importance of unity and he writes: Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. (Ephesians 4:3-6)
We must remember, recognise and honour the whole trinity, “Father, Son and Holy Spirit”. They were all there at the beginning of time. They work together still, and will do so right through to the end of time as God has planned it.
Over and over again in the Bible we are encouraged to stay in unity with other believers. How sad God must be that there has been so much division in the church and today there are so many denominations. Pride has often been the reason for that. We tend to resist those who don’t think like we do, that is pride!
Praise God that today we are living in a time when churches of all types are beginning to work together for His glory.
Action
Think as you go through your day today which gifts God has given you. Remember the verses in 1 Corinthians 12 that you read recently, and pray that the Lord will reveal to you what you have already received and what He would like you to pray to receive. Remember that He said “You do not have because you do not ask”. (James 4:2) That verse can be applied to spiritual things just as much as physical things.
