Gifts & Giving – Day 3
Water is the most essential element for life. It symbolises the essential Holy Spirit for spiritual survival. Those who believe and get to Heaven before the last days of earth as we know it, will be urging others to take the free gift of eternal life symbolised by this water.
Revelation 22:17
The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.
The Thought
This verse tells us of the last free gift offered in the Bible. But it is the same story all the way through. Jesus told us in John 4:14 that He would give us the water of life. He repeated this a few chapters later when on the last day of the feast Jesus stood and said in a loud voice Let anyone who is thirsty come to Me and drink. Whoever believes in Me, as the scriptures have said, rivers of living water will flow from within them. (John 7:37-39)
Water is the most essential element for life, and it symbolises the essential Holy Spirit for our spiritual survival. It costs us nothing to accept the Holy Spirit in our lives, and that gift gives us so much… A new outlook on everything.
It is interesting that in the verse today, it is not just the Lord who is offering this gift, but the Bride of Christ is saying the same thing. Those of us who believe and get to Heaven before the last days of earth as we know it, will be urging others to take the free gift of eternal life symbolised by this water. Maybe we should practice doing that today!
Action
Pray today for those you know who are not yet believers, that they would receive God’s free gift of His Son before it is too late.
Speak to someone today about your faith and dare to invite them to a meeting or to a “not yet believers” course such as the Alpha Course. click here for more info.
Praise God for the many who have accepted Jesus during the stresses of the covid crisis.
