The Fig Tree – Day 29

The Jews are still looking forward to that day, when their Saviour finally comes to reign and to bring lasting peace to the earth. What a wonderful day that will be for all who believe and have been waiting and doing what He called us to do.

Micah 4:4

They will sit under their grapevines and their fig trees, and no one will make them afraid. The Lord of Armies has spoken.

The Thought

The Jews are still looking forward to that day, when their Saviour finally comes to reign and to bring lasting peace to the earth. What a wonderful day that will be for all who believe and have been waiting and doing what He called us to do. Can you sense in this verse that there will be peace on the earth? There will be no fear, no mistrust, no animosity or jealousy because the Prince of Peace will reign.

This chapter starts with “In the Last days…”. Much is written in the Bible about the last days, but it has to be searched for. How convenient it would have been if God had organised His book differently and made it much easier to find certain subjects!

If He had done that would you read all of it, or just the bits you like?

Since the early days of the Israelites, they have been waiting for their Messiah. How sad that they didn’t recognise Him in Jesus. Although today there are many Messianic Jewish communities who know the truth. What a glorious day it will be when we can all sit “under our grapevines and fig trees” and celebrate together.

Verse 12 of this chapter talks about the enemies of the Lord and is an encouragement for us believers… But (talking of God’s enemies) they don’t know the thoughts of the Lord or understand his plan…

We as those who read the scriptures understand, and have no fear of the future. Hallelujah!

Action

Read chapter 4 of Malachi and look for the present day signs of the coming Messiah.

Ask yourself if you are ready for His return, and pray for those you know who are not.
