Creation – Day 23
Muslims will say that Allah is the same as Jehovah, under another name. But a brief look at the teachings will tell us that this in not true. People brought up in many Asian countries will say there are many gods, one for each section of society, or each activity.
Isaiah 45:18
For this is what The Lord says— He who created the heavens, He is God; He who fashioned and made the earth, He founded it; He did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited— He says: “I am the Lord, and there is no other.
The Thought
Many people in the world would argue with the end of this verse, saying there are many gods, or different gods. Certainly many muslims will say that Allah is the same as Jehovah, just under another name. But a brief look at the teachings will tell us that this in not true. People brought up in many Asian countries will say that there are many gods, one for each section of society, or each activity.
But none of them, so far as I know claim to be creator of all that is visible, the earth, sky and beyond. The sovereign Lord speaks all through the Bible declaring that He is the ONLY God who created the earth, heavens, and everything there-in. He is the only God who claims to be an un-created eternal super power.
What is amazing for us as individuals, is that this enormous super-being cares for each one of us individuals, and is the only God who sent His son to die for us!
After a few challenging verses we read a declaration at the end of verse 21 “There is no God apart from me, a righteous God and a Saviour; there is none but Me.” This is followed by an appeal to us all to turn to Him and be saved.
Action
Read this chapter of Isaiah today and feel God’s emotional appeal to His people to believe in Him. He is the only One who can save. He repeats the cry of many prophets to not make idols for ourselves, because idols can do nothing for us.
Pray today for those you know who have idols in their homes, and for those who need “to turn to Him and be saved”. (Isaiah 45v22)
