The first sentence above, is a command throughout the Bible to the people of God, anytime, anywhere. Most church services all over the world begin with songs of praise, because we have much to thank Him for. Just who He is as well as what He does for His people.
The only way to deal with satan is the way that Jesus dealt with Peter when he let his emotions get the better of him telling Jesus that what He had said would not happen! His response was to the devil who was speaking through Peter: Get behind me satan.
It is hard to imagine a being whose understanding has no limit. Many of us know someone who seems super intelligent, or who has the answer to most things, someone we go to when we do not understand something. Read one of the chapters mentioned below and be encouraged today.
These two short verses are a proclamation of the character of God. He is one who builds up instead of knocking down. Written centuries before Jesus went to Jerusalem, these words describe the things He said and did. They are an encouragement that we who call ourselves Christians should follow.
Those promises still hold today. God will never leave us. It may feel as though He has done when we go through difficulties, but sometimes those difficulties feel easier if we turn our focus on Him and sing His praise. He has the answer to every problem we might face.
Many of us have had times in our lives when we have often repeated ourselves in order to emphasise a certain point, and all of us know that it is essential to repeat things to children so that they remember and learn to live the way we want them to.
The Psalmist also tells us that God cares for those who, for whatever reason, are missing an important person from their family. Losing a close family member is tragic, whatever age we are. At times like that we are vulnerable and hurting, and need to be reassured that somebody cares.
This psalm of praise continues the theme of our study yesterday making declarations about the goodness of God. There are many people working for Him today who can testify to meeting God for the first time in prison. But the words above can be applied spiritually as well as practically.
All through the Bible, there are assurances that Father God created the earth and the heavens. It is not just a fairy story that people made up! Neither did it take millions of years to develop from nothing. God still gives food to the hungry, and He remains faithful forever!
Jacob was the father of 12 sons who became the twelve tribes of Israel which form the Jewish nation as it exists today. He died at an old age with all his sons around him. The Lord revealed Himself to Jacob, forgave him, and blessed him through his whole life.
