This post is Day 1 in a series of studies about “Last”. This will be the last study I publish on this site.
Feel free to comment below with your own thoughts about each verse and how you will be acting on each thought. Also, if you haven’t yet signed up to receive the notifications of new studies, you can do that today. (The form is at the bottom of the page).
The Last – Day 1
Revelation 22:13
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
The Thought
This month I will celebrate my 79th birthday. As I move into my 80th year, I believe that Jesus is telling me that it is time to stop writing these studies. I want to be obedient, but must say that I have thoroughly enjoyed doing them these past twenty years.
I have appreciated the lessons I have learned along the way. I praise God for my continuing good health, as well as hundreds of other things, and I am not intending to die in the near future, but I want to be obedient to the Lord I have served since the age of 4, and make my own independent decisions, before my family feel they must tell me that what I write doesn’t make sense, or is not spiritually correct.
So it seems appropriate to study the word last for this month. Immediately I thought of the last supper, the last days, and Jesus saying I am the first and the last, but of course there are many more verses carrying these same words.
Today’s verse is the last time this expression is used in our Bibles, and Jesus is really stressing the point here, giving us three expressions that mean the same thing. He is telling us clearly that He was there at the beginning of time, and will be there at the end of the world as we know it. Let us rejoice in that today.
Action
Read Revelation 22 today and think about the point that Jesus was stressing in His last message written in our Bibles, with the three expressions meaning the same thing.
Think about the end of this world, as you think it will happen. Do you look forard to that moment, or fear it?
Pray for revival all around the world.
