Psalms 146-150 – Day 10
It is hard to imagine a being whose understanding has no limit. Many of us know someone who seems super intelligent, or who has the answer to most things, someone we go to when we do not understand something. Read one of the chapters mentioned below and be encouraged today.
Psalm 147:4-5
He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit.
The Thought
Continuing the description of God’s character described in the previous verses, the psalmist goes back to creation to confirm to us that God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1). These words are confirmed many times throughout the Bible (For example: Zechariah 2:1, Revelation 14:7).
It is hard to imagine a being whose understanding has no limit. Many of us know someone who seems super intelligent, or who has the answer to most things, someone we go to when we don’t understand something. We seek out their opinions when we cannot see any reason for government decisions, or for world tragedies, because that person whose opinion we value seems to understand more of what is going on in the world, than do we ourselves.
The psalmists and many other Biblical prophets appear to have much more faith and spiritual understanding than is evident in a lot of the church today.
We must remember that what we have learned in school, or even in church might not be the total truth. The only way to really be sure of what is true is to seek God for ourselves, to read His word, talk to Jesus, and listen for His answers.
Satan was ready to tempt Jesus before He began His earthly ministry trying to put doubts into Jesus’ mind questioning Him about being truly the son of God (Matthew 4:3 & 6). Satan is more than ready to sow doubts into our minds too. Jesus answered him with words from the scriptures, that is what we must do!
Action
Let us do that today, making a determined effort to spend more time listening to The Lord, and reading His word than the news media.
Read one of the chapters mentioned above and be encouraged today.
