Separation – Day 29

Jeremiah 51:45

Come out of her My people! Run for your lives. Run from the fierce anger of the Lord.

Revelation 18:4

Come out of her my people, so that you will not share in her sins. … For her sins are piled up to Heaven, and God has remembered her crimes.

The Thought

Two verses today which say the same thing!

The prophet Jeremiah was pleading with the people to get out of Babylon. Because God’s anger was about to break out over that people who refused to follow Him and continued to treat His nation atrociously. When Jeremiah gave the people this call for them to run from “the fierce anger of the Lord”, it was not anger against the nation of Israel. It was against those who had enslaved them. It was the Lord who sent them to Babylon to learn a few lessons in an effort to call them back to Himself. And after many years in captivity, the Lord was saying it was time to go home.

Many were very settled and resistant to returning to “The land of their fathers” after settling and getting used to life in subordination to Babylon. But for God’s obedient people there is always a better plan than slavery.

The same cry Come out of her my people is going out across the world today. It will continue to be shouted by the angels, until the end of time, as John saw in his revelations. God wants all of us to recognise where we are subject to the enemy, who is active today in our governments, and many international institutions.

Action

Ask the Lord to give you clarity today about His call to separate His people from the ways of the world. Ask yourself what it means for you.

Read Revelation 18 today and take to heart the message from the Lord to be separated from the ways of the world and its influence.
