Thought 22

Ezekiel 37:3

He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “O Sovereign LORD, you alone know.”

What a wise answer! Ezekiel knows enough of the Lord to know that he himself knows nothing, and that God is full of surprises. Can you think of a situation in your life or someone near to you today which has been taken for hopeless?

Ask the Lord about it. Does He think it is hopeless? Can you say with Ezekiel, “O Sovereign Lord, only You are Sovereign, and only You know all things“?

Pray for an improvement in your spiritual sight, so that what you have seen as hopeless, you can see through the Lord’s eyes.

Praise Him that no situation is beyond redemption.

Thought 23

Ezekiel 37:4-5

Then He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD! This is what the Sovereign LORD says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.”

We continue thinking about dry situations, and here we see that it is the spoken words given by the Lord that causes change in the bones. What would have happened if Ezekiel had not spoken? If he had not obeyed the Lord’s instruction? So much of what happens in our lives, in our churches and in the lives of those around us depends on our obedience, depends on what we say, and the Bible has much to say on those subjects.

Pray for the Lord to help you be obedient today and to remind you of situations that depend on your obedience to Him.

Praise God for His loving words to you. Remember that He does not condemn you. (Romans 8:1) Praise the Lord for His word which speaks to every circumstance.

Thought 24

Ezekiel 37:2&7

He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry.

So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone.

This must have been a scary moment for Ezekiel, but also an exciting moment. When the Lord speaks today through His prophets, there is often a lot of noise of rejoicing, as what He says comes to pass. Sometimes church is too quiet and we need to have some rattling of the bones. But before the bones can move we need the Ezekiels of our day to do some prophesying.

Pray for the Lord to raise up people who are not afraid to speak out for Him, and not afraid of the noise that may result, ask Him if you are one of those. Pray for the rattling of the bones in your church.

Praise God for what He is doing in your life and in the lives of those around you.
