1 John – Day 28

1 John 5:11-12

… God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

The Thought

When Jesus died on the cross He died for everyone who had ever lived and would ever live. He did all He could possibly do to make life with Him in Heaven available for all people for all time. How can we as believers get that message across to an unbelieving sceptical world?

People will argue that they are alive, so … ??? But there is such a difference between having physical life and having spiritual life. Jesus said “I have come that you might have life in abundance”, or “life to the full” John 10:10. The quality of life that Jesus lived is available for us as believers. Today! For Jesus, it came from constant communication with His Father. It can for us too.

Once the first disciples had been given the Holy Spirit, nothing could stop them telling others the truth about Jesus. Nothing! Once Paul had had his Damascus road experience, nothing could stop him sharing his faith, and satan tried hard by sending shipwrecks, imprisonment and every kind of opposition Acts 11:22-27. All those early followers of Jesus risked everything in order to get the message across the world.

Adam and Eve had full life in the garden before they even knew that evil existed. That was God’s intention for all people, how sad it must have been that things went wrong so early on in the history of the world.

Action

Ask yourself today what eternal life means for you. Pray for more evidence of it so that others will see you as different.

Pray for more confidence to speak about your faith to those around you.
