Doors & Gates – Day 24

Luke 13:25

Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside, knocking and pleading, “Sir, open the door for us”, but he will answer “I don’t know you, or where you come from”.

The Thought

This is the verse which follows yesterday’s reading. We can think that there will be a final day when the door between earth and heaven will be permanently shut. It confirms to us the need to have that relationship with Jesus today while alive doing what we do regularly.

It also confirms that the world as we know it will have an end. So many people think and act as though life will continue as it always has, arguing that there have always been those who say the world will end one day. But it never does. Those same people can’t see the possibility of life after death and consequently can’t understand that our spirits live on and will go somewhere once our bodies die. Either heaven or hell!

On the other hand there are those who do believe in life after death and go to mediums to try to contact loved ones who have passed on. This is a demonic deception.

In the picture described in the verse for today we can imagine Father God leaning out of a window in Heaven saying to those who are pleading for access that He never knew them.

This is confirmed in Matthew’s gospel when Jesus tells those asking about the end times. Many will say to Me on that day,’Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name … drive out demons … perform miracles?’ … I never knew you.

Action

Pray today for the preachers and teachers that you follow and have been blessed by. Please pray that they will stay faithful to their calling and not go off in their own strength.

Pray for revelation for those who don’t understand the truth.
