Creation – Day 12

Genesis 1:20

And God said ” Let the water team with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky.” So God created the great creatures of the sea, and every living and moving thing with which the water teams, according to their kinds and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

The Thought

We thought yesterday was a busy day for God, but He excelled Himself on this fifth day!

Researchers tell us that there are about 250,000 known marine species. They estimate that they have only discovered half of them.

Scientists trying to count the bird population are divided as to how to keep apparently related birds in the same category or whether to create a different group.

I love the thought of frustrated and confused scientists thinking things are related. I visualise God on this creation day saying: “Let’s make another like that, but with a different shaped beak and a longer tail!” Just as any artist (a person made in God’s image), today draws or creates something then changes it a little. “A bit darker or lighter here, a bit fatter or thinner there”. That’s how I see Father, Son and Holy Spirit chuckling over the designs on that day.

Action

Imagine God’s satisfaction when He looked on all He had created this day and was happy with every single design. His plan for the earth was being fulfilled, and the earth was full of His glory.

Take note today of the different sorts of creatures you see during your day, whether birds, animals or insects, and rejoice in God’s imagination.

Pray for those who work to supply statistics for the rest of us, that they would acknowledge God the creator of all things.
