The Spiritual Blessings – 25
The gifts God gives are to be used for Him, and not for ourselves. Please note too that the Bible never talks about keeping our faith secret. We can show love to the unlovable, we can pray and do acts of kindness.
Christ also gave apostles, prophets, missionaries, as well as pastors and teachers as gifts to his church. Their purpose is to prepare God’s people to serve and to build up the body of Christ … This is to continue until all of us … become mature, until we measure up to Christ, who is the standard.
We read about “fulness” yesterday and here we get the emphasis once more. The purpose of the gifts or blessings that we receive from Jesus is to help others to grow. Whatever we do for Him should be helping other people to be drawn nearer to Him.
The leaders in your Christian group, no matter whether it is a very small cell or a church of thousands should be helping you to grow. Each of us should have others we are praying for and encouraging to grow too.
The gifts God gives are to be used for Him, and not for ourselves.
Please note too that the Bible never talks about keeping our faith secret. On the contrary, we are to let our “light shine in front of people. Then they will see the good that you do and praise your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
Sadly in a growing number of places in the world speaking about Jesus is forbidden, but we can still act out our faith. We can still show love to the unlovable, we can pray and do acts of kindness.
Ask God to help you show His love to someone today.
Pray for the church leaders you know who fit into the categories named above, that each one would fulfill his God given task. Thank God for those who have helped you in your faith walk.
If you are reading this and are not part of a christian group, pray for the Lord to lead you to others whether physically or via internet, who can help you grow in faith. (Feel free to get in touch. We have Christian friends in many parts of the world.)
